With Tvilum-Scanbirk to the design fair in Milan
Monday, April 26, 2010

“I Saloni”, one of Europe’s most important furniture fairs, takes place in Milan from 14 to 19 April. The exhibition
halls are situated on the outskirts of Milan and are a must for anyone who works with trends and design in any
capacity. The halls are clearly divided according to style and function, and you will find both established
international brands and new names there.

At Tvilum-Scanbirk we are always on the lookout for new inspiration for the development of new and existing
furniture ranges, and we were therefore well represented by employees from several different departments
at the trend seminar in Milan, held in conjunction with the fair.

Homely cosiness with style

Taste is (thankfully) an individual thing, so there were a variety of mini trends on show, ranging from imitation
and chandeliers to cardboard and plants. But in addition to being the year when the ash cloud brought air
traffic to a standstill in the days during and after the fair, 2010 will be remembered for its special focus on
functional furniture in both wood and soft materials, styled with cushions, rugs and green plants to create a
homely touch in the midst of the hectic surroundings.

In their attempt to create homely cosiness and personality in the interior design, several brands had
experimented with the colours and softened the ever-present minimalist style with colourful textiles, nature
motifs (trees and birds), graphic elements and accessories with patina and history such as books, pictures
and antiques.

Achieve the style with Monaco

Another recurring trend was shelves in high gloss and wood, used either as room dividers, wall-to-wall or as
a graphic element on the wall. One of Tvilum-Scanbirk’s furniture ranges which is bang on trend is Monaco,
a range of storage furniture in simple designs with optional high gloss fronts. The range is functional and
modern, with features such as concealed height adjustment, rounded corners on all fronts and flap hinges
with damper. Several items of furniture in the range have a floating look with stylish fronts, which allow you
to create your own personal interior. Monaco is available in the current colours white, black and dark walnut.
